seen a few cars and a few people who hit big reds. those bars could be bigger! like an 8ft rabbit running into the road.

I've seen bigger roo bars than that Dean, this is the reason why

they are crazy animals. its not like a rabbit on the side of the road, that might run across. from my experience of doing a great deal of driving in the out back, a kangaroo will always run into head lights

I was overtaking a car once on the A1 at scotch corner, the driver of the car I was over taking didn't see the Frisian cow and calf that walked into the carriageway in front of us as he was too busy gawping at me going past, he braked a split second after me and hit the cow full on.

 

His car had similar damage as the one in the vid, he swept the cow up onto the bonnet, over the roof and it ended up back on its feet and trotted off a little bit wobbly but virtually unhurt.

 

Driver asked me to witness it, I said yes no problem, I'll witness you not paying attention

 

If he,d have had roo bars on he'd have splatted the cow

Must say,I for one am glad that they are not as popular over here as they used to be.

I once had a Trooper with a lovely bar on the front. I was well chuffed with it but my daughter said to take it off as I would kill a child if I hit one.

I took no notice as the Trooper would look 'soft' without it until one day a kid ran out in front of me. I missed the kid and he carried on into the oncoming lane to be hit by a Sierra (it was a long time ago,when Sierras still roamed the earth).

This boy was gently swept off his feet by the sloping front of the car and rolled neatly up over the bonnet, around the screen and back to the floor. He got up and ran away.

 

He would not have been so lucky if hit by the horizontal bars on the Trooper, so they were off the next morning.

One teenage daughter gained some power over dad then.

One of my Managers, good fella, hit a cow one night. Went through his wind screen and nearly took his head off. Had one side of his face rebuilt.

I've seen similar in Oz and Roo bars do work but I don't see the point in urban areas. They are more a danger than saviour.
