4.6ft Burr Oak - Another project!

well, finally got around to talking to my neighbour whose tree blew over a few years back and we tidied. thought I should ask him about milling it up

 

its 4.6ft around the middle, though I am guessing a touch wider at the butt though at some point (no names mentioned (not me) took a slab of burr off the side. animal .

20ft long is the total length. currently propped up off the ground by the rhode it fell on and a large log we wedged under to stop it moving whilst we where cutting.

so, thoughts on how to go about this bad boy

Looks a lot of soil on that. The moss won't be heavy with substrate but the ferny bit certainly. A good clean to start you off I'd suggest. Especially as you'll want the outside burrs.

Clear the rhodi, then pressure wash it.

Yeah she's all good thanks, 3 weeks old so a bit early to get her on the mill yet lol
