Brand new carabiner from DMM!

Just thought I'd let you guys know I've had one of these fail after 2 weeks of use

Hopefully you can see the plastic bush (?) that's somehow came loose which stops the krab from functioning

I honestly have no idea, I was cleaning my kit up this afternoon and the krab wouldn't shut after i took it off my lockjack. This krab stays on my lockjack on the harness point so the gate doesn't really get much use

bit of graphite powder will likely sort it. I've picked up brand new krabs before which have done this

Graphite won't fix that

The insides have fell out

I've been climbing for 8 years and I've never had anything like this happen

Did you clean it in hot water at all?

 

Reason I ask is hot water can distort the plastic part you have poking out there.

 

If not DMM are a great company to deal with so its worth passing it into your supplier, was it us?

I used warm water the thing is I've always cleaned them in warm water, that's the only DMM krab I've got, the rest are ISC krabs and I've had no issues cleaning them. I'm from up north so I bought it from gusthearts. Honestly I'd have another one I liked it and it worked well maybe I got bad one.

I'd just return it to your dealer. DMM are a very switched on company and they love to see every gear failure.

It helps them to make better gear in future.

If they were so switched on they'd fix the problem! It's a shame they make good looking carabiners with such crappy gates.
