I don't understand the hate. They turn energy from the sun into electricity. An amazing technology! They provide 100% of my power, with no impact on the environment and no money going to the horrible energy companies.

I saw a big field of them (must of been 15 acres +) the other day and they don't look any worse than some crops and ploughed fields.

"Just the stupid places people put them (eg. see OP)."

Not always the home owners fault. I have seen almost useless systems installed by cowboy PV company's that convince the less savvy customers it will be great. When they learn the reality of the shading problems they then seek to resolve the issues. Not saying it is in the OPs case but does happen.

Can't argue with that.

We've got a solar farm going through the planning stages just round the corner, on an abandoned airfield, and I think it's great.

The company have offered to pay £25,000 (index linked) a year to the local community for the life of the project (25 years), and that is a lot of money to a small Norfolk hamlet.

Gonna stay well away from the debates about how the money gets spent though.

Aye, but cud they not of placed it in front on the tree! Just silly

They probably wanted it in the corner of their property.

Also didn't want leaf debris falling on it.

I'm sure they'll plant another tree elsewhere.

As to being only for the rich, theres more solar on council and relatively poor homes round here. Think there was some sort of offer.Free electricity if the company get the grant. Well, it's better than nothing. No risk/ no reward.
