Wood craft course

Hey,

 

I'm thinking about signing up to a wood work course in Essex.

Anyone know what kind of course I could join?

I like carving wood, making spoons, little chests etc so what could I join?

Furniture making? Cabinet making?

I really am not sure?

buy a couple of books mate,,,I learn loads from them, watch some you tube vids, and just research,,,your local college probably do a course,evenings or summer school, this would help with basicsjoints etc,,

Yeah good advice, youtube has loads of stuff on there about little projects etc

I just love learning woodwork techniques

Best site I've found for tutorials on achievable beginners and intermidiate projects is the wood whisperer.

Try some of them, he makes good videos and explains things well.

Yeah going to take a look, learning from the web is actually very effective though. I'm finding a lot of it is having the right tools for the job though.

If you get into it mate, you will spend a small fortune on tools, it never really stops, always something new you will want. Bought myself a 2nd fix gas nailer this week, wanted one for a while, fitting oak skirtings etc most of this week, so thought it was a good time.

try and get your planes all pre WWII they are the best. also despite what quite alot of people think of it on here ebay is a goor source of these. i managed to get my no78 duplex, my no6 fore plane, my no8c jointer, my no80 scraper and my no 79 side plane all of ebay all 100% complete and the whole lot for about £250
