A change in plans may bring our trip forward to the second half of September.

Are the midges going to be a problem then? (still planning mainly the west coast and highlands, but not the islands due to ferry prices)

thanks BJ.

We are giving Glasgow a miss , so I guess we won't have too much trouble from midgets either:biggrin:

Very true! :laugh1:

it's funny how much shorter folk tend to be there. Even Edinburgh is an inch or so shorter on average than southern England (I have the bird's eye perspective you see!).

You should try and visit Glasgow if your in Scotland, some of the best architecture in Europe. A lot of people bypass Glasgow when they visit Scotland which is a pity as there's a lot to see. Give us shout if you want a quick tour.

Thanks scotspine, I must admit to having preconceived ideas of Glasgow being a dump full of 'buckies' addicts ( those devon monks have something to answer for) but I am not sure where these ideas came from. and I am sure they are wrong.

However, we are not really into architecture, but would rather spend our limited time in the highlands.

Not long back Glasgow was voted one of the best shopping cities in the UK.

But you're better coming up to look at the scenery and save the shopping for Jonesies online ;-)

Thanks for the tip Jim, but there is not much I want from Jonesies online, I do buy some of my stock from them 'trade' though:biggrin:

If you get the chance try and visit Torridon and Loch Maree then. Epic places.....unless it's cloudy, raining and misty, which it probably will be
