No sympathy for the "cash buyer", it's these so called bargain hunters that are fuelling the market for theft. If there was no market to move it on to, there'd be less point in stealing in the first place.

JCB always ask for the serial number of the machine when you make a parts enquiry, I think this is to check ownership.

 

This is because JCB change the spec of their machines every fifteen minutes to try and counter whichever reliability issue they are currently having, hence you will often see in parts books etc the old phrase:

"after serial no. ******8849955****..." Even with the serial number, part for yellow machines can still be a lottery.

Spot on. We stopped buying any secondhand equipment a while ago as i could never be sure if what we were buying was nicked or not! I know it can be an expensive option but think about it.. You get a new very reliable piece of kit with warranty..... And you know its yours...

Same here I don't buy second hand kit from private sellers only through dealers unless I know 100% its genuine.
