Yes and it's very dry up here too. Hope it's just water stress.

Not sure if its is water stress Gnome, been noticing it for the last month or so. Had a couple of evergreens in a couple of gardens in good health one week then next week shrivelled and dead. Noticed the same with a couple of holly...

Was lucky enough to be in Paris at weekend and noticed lot of the boxed avenues of chestnut, elm and maple in the parks all dying back too.

I have only noticed it on hollies and mahonia, just alot more than usual and a pain when i'm hand weeding. Cherry laurel and photinia, privet etc are doing really well for me this year. leylandii are fine but not growing as fast which I am truly thankful for, but there is time yet!

 

It is my understanding that hollies have quite vulnerable root systems compared with other evergreen species. I might be wrong but I have always been careful with planting small specimens.
