Based on your pictures, your work looks great!. Count your blessings since 1 out of every 4 or 5 customers are like that over here. If the woman of the house is married 99.9% of the time the husband is useless and left out of the equation. I feel your pain and frustration.

As has already been suggested, unless she owes you £££'s cut your losses and politely move on to bigger and better objectives. I may also suggest maintaining a portfolio of these pictures of your work for any future customers like the one you described. You probably already do though.

You did a job, to her spec.

Because of her spec you got a follow on job replacing one slab. (For which I assume you charged royally, I would have...)

 

Again because of her spec you got yet another follow on job!

I presume you treated a test area with this sealer to show her how hideous it would look when finished? ( not your workmanship, the horrible plastic look stuff gets with these products)

 

If she's still not happy (and from what I read its not your workmanship she's unhappy with, but the materials she chose) I'd suggest ripping the lot up again and putting some real stone slabs in.

 

Then you'll have earned once to put it in, once again to replace one slab, then some more to seal it, and now you have an opportunity to earn the big cake again!

Some people would complain if you hanged them with a brand new rope! Put in your bill and move on, perhaps an idea to add a line to future quotes or invoices that you can only guarantee materials provided by, and recommended by yourself.

I'm ashamed to say that I did not do a test area, just wanted to get her off my back! In retrospect a mistake.

 

I do keep a portfolio but I always forget to do a before photo as I'm just so keen to get there and get cracking.

as other post if they supply materials then there fault not yours. but the customer is allways right not. as you say why do they not listen to a professional who does this as a living then may not have need to complain.
