Funding for Chainsaw related qualifications?

After being made redundant twice and looking for alternative work and still having no luck. I was wondering if there is any funding at all for the CS30 / 31 etc courses? As I do like working outdoors and believe this type of work is ideal for me.

I've looked online and haven't had much luck finding places regarding this, and the courses I have found seem well out of my affordability.

I am 34 and based in Glossop close to the Manchester area if anyone can help or knows of anywhere it would be very much appreciated. :)

Job centre may help.

Tickets however won't guarantee you any more money than stacking shelves at Tescos.

Put some workwear on, visit a few local companies and offer your services for free. Do a couple of months of this, you will gain far more valuable experience than a course would teach you, and you will be in the loop for any paid work that comes up.

Remember, it's much much easier to find a job when you're already in one, paid or not. State of mind and all that.

CONFOR have an educational grant scheme that can help with tickets but you have to be a member for one year at least. Then they can be picky about exactly what they help pay for (up to £750 edu costs). You'll be best of just calling them and asking directly - the fund is there for a reason and they are not shy - quite friendly.

Oh and you have to write them an article for every piece of funding you get!

Good luck.

Had a look at the Cumbria woodlands one,

Any ideas which ones if these are worth going for? They're not labelled cs30 and so on, So I'm not sure if they're the same thing?

That second one on the list(£250, maintenance, crosscut and small fell) is the CS30/31 and last one is CS32, or whatever the new equivalent NPTC 201,202,203 units are.

Basically they are the ones you want. :thumbup1:
