Just doing a quote for a customer needs to be emailed tonight so have limited time to phone around for quotes!! Anyone have a rough costs for traffic management for a day on a A road? Traffic lights etc...

Here's a list from our local hire shop:

 

Signs - £4.50 / week each

 

Cones - £1.50 / week each

 

Lights - 2 way (incl 4 signs) £75/day,£105/2days, £135/3days, £150/week

 

Lights - 3 way £115/day, £161/2 days, £207/3 days, £230/ week

 

Hope that helps. That's X VAT and X delivery and set up which are extras if you need them.

Just seen, day time call out rate if broken is £39/hr day rate, £59.50 night rate and "outside fitter" for set up if required is £40.50 / hr

Two-way lights on a simple set up generally between £300 and £350 + VAT. Can be more if three/four way lights required, dual carriageway, etc. Permits from the roads authority can add a bit to it as well.

 

How much it costs might depend on where you are in the country.

 

That is cost per day, including set up and take down.

little while back was looking to hire some for a job lux traffic systems aprox cost was £300 for days hire including setting up and taken down. hope this helps a bit

If you are from south Hampton our charge for 2way lights inc setup n all signage is £270 for 24hrs, or £360 for a week.

The other example prices make Cornwall look like good value for money! I won't tell our shop how much the rates are up country!

 

Here's a question for the traffic boffins:

 

P62 Red Book, a "stop -works" board is listed (looks like a school lollipop crossing sign)

 

Nobody seems to stock them and many never even heard of it until they check Red book

 

Subject to the listed restrictions (visibility distance, speed limits, traffic density etc) it can be used to stop traffic for 2 minutes to, for example, reverse a vehicle out of a site onto the carriageway.

 

So, the question is, how would you feel about having your climber in the tree, put in the gob cut, arrange the rigging, signal the 1 of the groundies to stop traffic with the "stop works" board, put the fell cut in, lower the piece and clear the obstruction within 2 minutes and let the traffic through.

 

OK, so I'm not talking A or even B roads, heavy traffic or other significant complicating factors, just a quiet-ish back lane.

 

Any thoughts?

Just paid 390 for A road, one lane closure with lights and 1 bloke. 1 day.

 

Plus 81.44 for the council request for traffic management.
