What bars for a Stihl MS 241

I'm confused, nothing new to my friends. But what I presently find confusing, is the stated/suggested bar lengths for the MS 241. Stihl says 14", 16" and 18". But 'Chainsaw Bars UK' suggest 13", 15" and 16". So is it really possible to put a 15" on the 241 or is it a website error?

I'd kinda like to know, as 16"/18" is too long for my needs and I reckon that's pushing the boat out on 42.6cc. 13" too short and maybe 14" is as well.

You can run the MS241 on either 3/35" or 3/8"picco chain so that's the anomaly. Picco sizes are 14", 16" & 18" and if your running 3/25" then 13", 15" and 16". I'm personally running 14" picco set up with one of them Sugihara bars and it's a delight - the picco chain has a narrower profile so therefore requires less effort from the saw to pull it through the kerf. Don't forget you'll need to change your sprocket to suit whatever size chain your running eg 3/25 or picco.

On Robs site if you're after 14, 16 etc then just order a bar for an MS200.

If 13" & 14" are too short, but 16" too long, then may I suggest you are perhaps a touch fussy?

Seriously, I'd go with a 14" 3/8 Picco. As poster above says, thinner kerf equals more productivity. Maximise this further by going for 1.1mm gauge bar and chain rather than the usual 1.3mm
