alasdair it stinks,

i once used it in a combo 1.7 diesel..(yard use) thats when the fuel was sky high....

the van did run smoother on veg oil but was stinking of the local chippy...

if you intend on using it, make sure your injector pump is a bosch, as the other makes cant handle the thickness of veg oil..

i used pure veg oil no mixing..

all renaults can run on pure veg oil with no mixing :001_smile:

Good new for all using waste oil as fuel - since 2007 if you use 2500 litres or less per annum of oil, you pay no Road Duty..I am usually up to speed on this kind of thing but only recently found out myself. So if you can get hold of oil for free, filter well and use a two tank system or blend 50/50 with DERV, laugh all the way to the bank, currently. I use either biodiesel or oil/derv in my Hilux, and it runs great. Fit a VOW heater or similar to get the oil warm before it hits the cylinders. Let me know if you want any more info

My work mate and his dad make biodeisel from veg oil (they buy new). The have a fuel pod in their garage. He has been running his landy on it for over a year. They had a few teething problems with quantities of winter additive last year but I think he has it sussed now. His truck does make you hungry.

I ran my L200 on bio from waste oil bought off a company who were making it.

It ran very smoothly but I had major problems with the filter gumming up. At least half of the filter filled with a jelly-like substance and brought the truck to a standstill. I was convinced it was down to the fact that the company weren't properly removing the lanolin from the bio diesel.

I've also run on straight veg oil with no problems except cold starting but that can be avoided with heating and/or additives.

Forgot to mention that earlier- it is quite normal to replace the fuel filter after the first tankful or so of bio as it's a solvent bar none and strips all the cr** out of the tank, lines and system generally. If you get a loss in power or running problems after using bio, chances are thats the problem, time for a new filter
