great work... our bodging group needs to get set up for steam bending in teh woods, just need to figure out how to make a steam box that is portable enough

mine is just a 6ft long 12 ins square box made from polystyrene (dow ) and I use a wallpaper stripper for the steam and heat

Dervish, I was thinking about a mobile steam box the other day and came up with a design in my head around a metal dustbin and some old flue pipe. Basically get a dustbin with a fire type lid, cut a hole in the middle of flue pipe slightly larger than the spiggot on lid. Use a bungee chord to hold lid and flue on dustbin. Make a simple folding trivet for dustbin. Make small fire under dustbin, fill with a littlewater and your away. Towels Will seal holes at end of flue, so it doesn't matter if wood is stcking out. When your done everything Will fit nicely in bin for easyish transport. Hope this helps. James.
