I'm in West Somerset and want to have a large beech tree felled in my garden. It's too close to my house for such a large tree and pruning over the years has had little impact.

It depends on the tree i guess.

 

Plenty of straight trunk, and thick boughs with good access then to the right person it would be worth doing for very little cash on top. Guess if you have the demand for the wood and maybe even a client waiting ....

Thanks for your query, I would like the tree very much. I assume you understand that the removal of such a tree is a job to be undertaken by professionals and as such would be charged at the appropriate rate.

 

Or -

As and when I require firewood I use the wood which people pay me to remove. I am not aware of any tree-removal charities in the area but wish you every success in finding one.

It is amazing how many people think that wood is worth a fortune. People are continually surprised when I tell them it will cost more to take their wood away, rather than leave it for them as firewood.
