Hi

I am new to the industry and will be taking my cs30/31 soon. Can anyone advise me on what may be a suitable chainsaw to begin with ( mainly at home felling small tree's and cutting logs)?

Thanks

Luke

Your cs tickets will normally be using an ms260 or the husky equlivant.

Normally a 60cc saw. Best to try and get the same you would use on your course then you will be familiar with it.

Do the course and see what saw you use then look for the same saw after.

I will wait until my course then as see what they are using.

In regards to how much to spend... I really dont know, do i buy a new one or second hand etc? I guess not too much initially.

HUSQVARNA!!!

if youre not gonna do much 135/140

bit more 440/450

even more trees 545/555

pro level 550/560xp

i passed my cs30/31 second week of may, got a husky 555 for my first saw, use it regular and also work part time in forestry, got to admit i LOVE my saw :blushing:

Everything hinges on your budget, if money is no option then go for a new 50 - 60cc pro saw but if you have a smaller budget then you have to look at what you can get for the money.

In life you should really go for the best you can afford otherwise all you will do is to spend out less, be unhappy with the saw, sell it and then go out and spend out what you should have in the first place!

What is your budget - all the advice will flow from that piece of info!

I suppose something around £500 mark as like you say it is worth while getting something that will last me.

Husky 555 looks good, can get a good deal on ebay. Would you buy from the states?

Thanks

£500 will easily buy you a 550xp from a UK husky dealer and a little bit more should see you a 560xp.
