Hello My name is Mark and I am gear addict. It has been 4 whole days since my last purchase. New 25" bar and chain for upcoming job and some saw maintenance supplies. Don't buy depending on a job unless you have extra funds in case that job falls through. I know this well; blushing! If your asking this question perhaps a business plan and budget is needed. God knows I need to work on mine. Good luck my friend!

For us spending on chainsaws is pretty low, we buy chain by the reel, if I was to give an average £150 a month this is just on the chainsaws mind. Kit maintenance like chippers and trucks £2000 a month easily sometimes more.

I bet there are production cutter here spending 3 times more on chainsaws but less than half on kit maintenance.

I got over my gear addiction when i realised i just didn't need it and rather spend that money on myself. My gear is pure function it helps me do my job efficiently and thats it.

Saying that I reckon i need to spend £1000 on climbing kit at the arb fair and this probably still will not get me all i need. But i have not bought anything in over a year.

Always spending money on, fuel, oil, shiny stuff! and I've been replacing kit so loads of spending at the mo.

Climbing gear,

I normally buy something most months :embarresed:! New rope, new harness, new boots...... New trousers.....

I normally buy little bits each payday. anywhere between £50 - £80 a month, rarely less since I hate paying for postage :001_tongue:

I've got a nice climbing kit which I'm happy with, so now I'm building up a decent rigging kit. That said, the majority or my orders are gloves and hitch cord, both of which I seem to burn through!

One day I might start browsing a supplier and realise I have nothing left to buy!

I really do use most of mine. There is times where I don't need it yet but know I will in the future so I buy sooner. Lack of sticking to budget. My climbing and rigging gear alone is around $2000 US dollars roughly. I am just starting to tackle bigger takedowns and not just prunings as I did before.

mmmm, the attraction to shine anodized alloy is hard to resist... :001_tongue:

Most of my gear is warranted (well sort of as I'm part time), I have a few bits that get used rarely (spiderjack as I'm SRTing) and a HH that I'm yet to sort out.

Hey Luke, do you work for ATTTS by any chance?

Cheers,

Tony
