At the risk of repeating myself the geometry on double cab tippers is piss poor for load carrying.

All the weight is over or beyond the back axle, it's easy to be under weight on the entire vehicle but have a significant axle over load. The gree hills is a perfect illustration of this.

Yes, even if you we're able to put any significant weight in the back it would handle like a hippo on acid, I had a 130 tipper and I went on a weigh bridge with one and a quarter tonne of compost on, it was 20 mph all the way home, that had a toolbox at the front of the tipping unit so a lot of weight on and behind the rear axel.

For those of you wondering what "gree hills" is all about, its what the ipad predictive text did to green hilux

Note to self start checking ipad before it really embarrasses you (again):blushing:

There was a thread on here before about these and some bloke said that he'd rather fork the chip out and spend the money on something else. I agree, what will that green hilux hold? A meter and a half cube maybe? Not worth the effort. Buy some ply and a potato fork and spend whatever this unit costs on a 3.5 tonner no matter how rough.

I have a 3.5 tonner, mitsubishi canter fuso on a 60 plate

I am looking to convert my mk5 hilux or purchasing a defender 130 chassis cab and putting a tipper on that but i am not made of money hense this post

The problem i have is:

I have a 3.5 tonner tipper

Mk5 hilux non tipper

We do lots of on road every day front and back garden tree work.

We also do lots of off road tree work for house builders, northumbrian water etc...

We can leave chip on site sometimes but most of the time the chip needs to be removed.

I need to find the perfect system for my work, options are as follws:

1) Buy defender 130 tipper and run along side my 3.5 tonner

2) Sell my 3.5 tonner and buy iveco 4x4 (mpg unknown so may be a gamble)

3) Sell my 3.5 tonner and buy a cheeper transit tipper, buy a mog

Any other options are more than welcome and will be apreciated...

Sure, just be aware they won't hold diddly squat. I think we all search for the one truck that will do it all, 4wd, tipper, winch, family car etc, truth is it doesn't exist. I went down the 130 tipper route, and as they say on the X factor, "it was a journey"

For me keep the mitzi get a cheap Hilux or summat for quoting towing etc.

Just my opinion of course.
