Now bare with me here guys, I know the majority here wouldn't even consider it but have been watching some vids on YouTube, one in particular where a bloke has a comp between 361, 560, 372 and 440. He uses the same 25" bar and chain on each and cuts the same piece of timber, the times are as follows

361=36seconds

560=33seconds

372=36seconds

440=30seconds

Seeing these times would you consider running a 24" bar on a 560? Or would you still consider max bar to be 18? Something else I have found is that my 550 running an 18 cuts faster than 361 with a 16 hence why I am considering it but thought I would get some input from others before I make the decision

Cutting cookies and falling timber are different things. Cookies do not require as much torque since the bar isn't being pinched in the cut as the tree moves. However, it is still a good indication that the saw can pull. They are having good results with the 562 using 20 and 24" bars with a simple muffler mod in The States.

The 550's also pull well with an MM:

How would I go about doing this muffler mod? Another argument I have is that the 3120 is twice the size of the 560 and is happy running a 44-48" bar

I run a 20" on mine and was surprised how well it runs it and not just disking bits off a log but proper felling off some quite big pine that normaly id have use the 660 for but I think a 25" might be overdoing it unless for use up a tree for the odd bigger cuts where you want to keep saw weight down.
