I use one, on takedowns, and a rope lanyard for everything else. The chap who gave you grief must be a knob. Like anyone is who criticises another climbers kit. Its down to personal choice. Fact.:rolleyes:

trees, waves and cakes!!:-)

Hang on a bit it could range from light hearted teasing to haranguing.

I suspect the OP is a big boy who can handle himself.

I don't think the issue is the grief it's who uses them all the time and why.

I use a wirecore for dismantles and rope for other pruning works. I just feel it gives me a bit more cut resistance when swinging the saw around wildly hahaha.

It's down to personal preference in my opinion. I know a couple of guys who only climb on rope and they get on just fine! I would just say don't let other people tell you how to climb. But at the same time don't close your mind to new things especially if they might keep you safer/make your day easier! :biggrin:

we got onto the topic and he suggested that he thought i was a fool for not using a wire core, he's obviously one of those guys who thinks his way is the only way, I'll let him crack on with that one.

This is me "at it"..........

Never used one myself, ever! Never seen the need to either. Each to their own says I.

I certainly would'nt give another climber "grief" over his choice of climbing kit, but when it comes to his spelling...........

.... welll, don't get me started. :sneaky2::001_rolleyes::biggrin:

If you only have the one line in (as I think you have in the pics), I would be concerned about that, just my opinion.:001_smile:
