The evolution of my arb truck

I can remember working on these trucks when new in the mid 80's. I was a 16 year old apprentice and let loose with a petrol disc cutter to shorten the rear chassis by 4ft. I must have re wired over 100 sets of rear lights. I think they were the dodge 50 with 2 wheel drive but we had a few 4x4 ones over the years. Unfortunately Locomotors went bust in the 90's. There is still a good pool of knowledge around Andover as JJ conversions and Andover trailers sucked up alot of the engineers. I liked the torqey engine and positive gearbox on the dodge and spent hours driving them around our large yard but never actually drove one on the road that I can remember. The pics on here look superb and I am sure they make great Arb trucks. I completely agree I would rather push the boundrys legally than than be over weight. I hope I have not derailed your thread too much. Hope to see some of these trucks.

No worries Steve, I like hearing a bit of the history of the trucks.

Ic, had clutch slave seals pop so replaced that a water hose and a bit of wiring to sort, normal degrading with age I guess but nowt ells so far, been running it coming up 18month and keep on top of oil changes, greasing props and swivels etc.

Averaging about 22-24mpg as tend not to flog on too much.

sent while pretending to do something important on my mobile.

I think most of the dodge trucks we made had large tool store and tipper on the back all went to the SEB.

22 mpg is good been running a 60 plate D4 since christmas and that has averaged 21 mpg

A lot of parts are common to other vehicles but some are unique but are obtained from a selection of dealers.

Mine is right had drive.
