If its new, its not due to be LOLER'd for 6 months for climbing gear or 12 months for rigging. Daily examinations are required and by rights should be recorded, but obviously thats for the UK.

It would be best practice to record pre use inspections but its not required by the regulations or the ACOP. Recording a weekly inspection would be a wise but is similarly not required, however in the event of an incident you need to be able to prove to the powers that be that you were taking your duties seriously.

You are correct that new equipment does not require a through inspection until the relevant inspection period has expired however it would be wise to raise an inspection sheet for new equipment at its "into service" date.

This ensures that it gets its thorough inspection at the proper date and that, in the case of textiles it's retirement date can be determined. More importantly it demonstrates a professional attitude to the duties under LOLER, and it only takes a few moments to do.

it stand for lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations.

In the Uk all equipment involved in lifting and suspending loads is subject to the regulations that include inspections by a certified individual, record keeping and unique identification etc.

Ta, any lifting equipment has both in service and periodic inspections.

As the attached link infers, no easy answer where Australian Standards are applied. As for PPE ie harnesses etc some companies have there own regulations but generally in service inspections are performed by the user (its to their advantage) and gear is retired (destroyed) once its end date is reached (or a few years after) :confused1:How often to inspect lifting gear? - Nobles | Lifting and Rigging Suppliers
