550 xp chain brake

are the chain brakes on the 550 xp a known problem as ours is stuffed and its only a year old

One of the boys that used to work for me had a problem with the brake on his 550. He got it replaced under warranty after the second time it had to go into the workshop. It was replaced very easily, so might be a known problem to Husky.

A guy I work with has gone though 2 brake bands in 3 months on his 550xp!!

Yes it is a fault on the 550/60 I had 4 on mine, take it back to the dealer and they will fit the modified chainbrake.

Yeah, mines a yr old and has failed. Dealer's ordered a new one.

It is/was a problem but I think there is a modded one . Never broken the band on my 2011 560 but then I rarely use the brake ....

There must be something a miss, I fitted two last week! Will have to find out about the modified one.

Looked at service bulletins for 550xp and 560xp on husky service site. No mention of any chainbrake issues at all.

They're hardly likely to highlight bad design and or manufacture with their products.

 

As far as I can gather, (reading through various posts, here on Arbtalk and various other sources) it should be of no great surprise, if on owning either a Husky 550XP or 560XP, one had to replace more than the occasional chain brake.

 

Though the basics of the 550XP are there in the 545, the latter does not seem to share the same mechanical misfortune.

I think in the persute of lightness they just made them too thin and they are not up to being snapped on and off
