Landrover discovery 3 winch advice

Hi all I have recently treated myself to a landrover discovery 3 commercial and have fitted quite a few mods since buying it and now I am after a winch and bumper can anyone give me some help in which winch to go for and ideally recommend someone to fit it for me also any help is greatly appreciated cheers Tom

Depends on what you are going to use the winch for

 

occasional use in short bursts, self recovery or pulling the occasional tree over then you can go with an electric winch

 

Anything more than the above and you are going to need mechanical or hydraulic drive

I know nothing about Discos, but do know I don't want to keep an electric on my Defender... What are you using it for?

Yes forgot to mention that want to be able to pull the odd tree over with it and drag timber to my timber crane trailer and pull myself out if I get stuck should I have a discreet winch mount or front bumper mount cheers Tom

Don't go for a hidden winch it'll only bring trouble.Look for a genuine warn external winch mount.I've fitted three over the years and the Warn XP is a very good winch.Not meant for continuos use but will do what you want of it.I had one on my D3 for three years and served me well( miss it every day lol).There's loads of threads on disco3.co.uk covering it altho you may have to search back a few years as it's all gone very blingy on there since I used to frequent.
