I use a Kevlar thread at work (we make thermal insulation mats) its super strong, not cheap either, let me know if you want a cone of it to find its way to you mate.

Nothing wrong with sewing, I may get a blind stitch machine to make eye to eye hitch cords.

Kevlar thread sounds good stuff Mayhem. What are the thermal insulation mats for?

Dean I like the look of your machine as the bed (not sure that's the right term) looks good for doing intricate stuff. Is that what made you go for it or was it recommended?

 

My father can knit and sew. Years ago it was a necessity and I think they are great skills to have. I would like to be able to sew heavy materials so that I could repair and make strong bags, sew webbing etc.

This type of machine is one you can for example, feed your trouser leg over the "free leg" and sew the knee area, which is extremely difficult to do with a normal sewing machine with a flat bed. It's ideal for chainsaw trousers
