It might be being mande in the US though.

Dont know about husky but stihl saws in the US are made there, thats why there are some differences between them and the European models. As craig said the main differnene is in emmisions.

Hardly worth the effort for £80? Keep you local dealer happy and get good service from them when you need it, you would expect the same from your customers?

Hadn't factored in courier on this side of the pond. But still, adding 3%, then 20% on that and the courier, still comes in at nearly £80 cheaper than best discounted price in UK.

One to ponder me thinks. Maybe I could haggle a bit off the UK price. Or is that like trying to tie ones shoe laces, while wearing polar mittens?

Is this really worth considering?

If it were for a rare saw or unavailable that could only be found overseas, wel maybe.

Given the hassle, extra time sorting it, potential issues and simply the comparison of walking into your own dealer and putting a smile on his face, way outway the £80 saving IMO.

Stuby got it spot on it depends where in the US you buying it from what ya will get. Also remember octane levels in the states are different to here.

My saws are all US lol but I live there (well not at the mo lol) The specs on some are slightly different on some kit and they won't have the ce mark so you might find that some places over here if ya working commercially might have a hissy fit going on what I read bout the current rules here.

If your gonna buy from the states (yup saws etc are cheaper) buy from the East coast not the west (CA are nuts bout everything lol) you will get hosed with import and taxes but there is a way past that lol (which I'm not typing here lol) Also be careful as at the moment there is alot of fakes being imported into the states and folks are trying to get shot of them......I'm not saying your gig is just be aware of that They look the same until you lift the covers of.

Shipping from stateside is cheaper if you only buy the head not the wiggle stick as well their postal system is a bit different to here.

If you use a courier then they will usually offer customs clearence facilities my advice use it or the chappies here might .........age it for ya

but hey what do I know lol

if ya want more info or where to buy stateside holler and I'll try to advise lol

Still don't get why stuff in the USA thats being made in the EU is so much cheaper over there than here.

Less saving after all the taxes though

Wonder if you could bring a chainsaw back in your luggage if you go on holiday & buy one?

Answer to that is basically no buddy customs will get ya

Also US homeland won't let ya on the plane with it

There is a quirk bout the states .......Made in the USA sticker doesn't mean it actually is made there ..........and that I argue with anyone on.......

You can work out what your charges will be from the info on the HMRC website.

I brought one over, saved about a third after charges.

If it goes wrong I'll fix it myself, although the warranty would be over by now and nothing went wrong anyway.

Would I do it again? Probably not. I'm too impatient to wait for things to come!

Buddy I can get things from stateside in 10 days lol........it all depends the shipping system ya use and how it shipped.

Don't use the basic USPS you'll wait eons and get hosed

I know that lol I was just saying that all no more lol back home I go to the saw shop I'll have it the same day lol.........

All I was trying to get over (not well obviously) is shipping from stateside depends on how ya do it and who ya get to ship it ......most of the kit shipped this way goes thru NY .....even if ya buy it in OR or WA

Or just walk in and buy it off the shelf:

Welcome To Madsen's Online A bud of mine recently came out of there with a PNW MS440 set up(large discharge clutch cover, high output oiler, large spikes, 3/4 wrap handlebar) for $780 tax included.

Did he call you a butt buddy? ;) You two get a room.

The US thing relies on a lot of factors. Personally, with a good chance that customs and the handler dinging you solidly, I would really only get a used saw from someone I know, in good condition. With a new saw, all your troubles could easily end in wasted time and no real dealer support. I work independently and do my own repairs, so I have a variety of choices. But if you own a company and lend the saws out to employees, you'll want some place to drop them off to as an option; preferably a place with good support.
