Tennant disagreement

Evening all,

 

My tenants have chopped down the tree in the picture at the house I rent to them. Can anyone identify it and give me a rough price to replace it as i will need to deduct this cost from their deposit. Thanks in advance.

Looks like a cherry, maybe get a decent tree for about £80 plus compost and planting.

Also have a look on google for local nurseries and that'll give you a better idea.

 

Update.. A 30sec look and for a large cherry is £210 on one website without tax or delivery or planting

Do you really want to replace with the same size? Would cost quite a bit if you can find one. £1200-1500 planted I would guess. You have to figure that a tree and rootball that size is going to be very heavy so specialist kit required to deliver and plant it.

 

 

Why did they cut it down? Maybe they have improved your property?

 

Did they clear up the mess as well? And remove the stump? If not then just charge them for that and forget about it.

If you want a like for like species and size call ruskins or civic trees but I doubt the deposit will cover the cost

You will struggle to get like for like,this tree,(Prunus I think),is well established in its location,a wild stab at a cost to get a good sized replacement in,old stump ground etc...£800?

They have butchered it about 2/3 of the way up the trunk and stuck a bird table on the remaining 1.5m stump. Also they have removed all the shrubs from the border by the house, leaving about 50% of the herbaceous perennials. I was thinking £1000 to fix all the damage would be a reasonable ball park figure.

To me that doesn't sound unreasonable,they should have consulted you before cutting,so they are to a great extent at your mercy.
