Firewood for new woodburner in Fakenham

Looking forward to our first year with our newly installed wood burner. We obviously need to source a supply of free or cheap seasoned or unseasoned firewood for next winter and beyond. Looking for about 6 cubic metres in or around Fakenham.

HI David, Every man and his dog would love a free supply of wood! Majority of professional firewood suppliers are paying £40 a ton plus for green timber, plus haulage to their yard. I'm afraid if you are looking for a good supply of quality firewoodfrom a professional outfit, free or cheap aren't words I'd be using!

I find posts like this quite annoying. You have obviously spent a lot of money on the stove, installation, etc so what makes you think you should be able to get the fuel for free??? You would not install a new gas central heating system and ask British Gas for free gas would you?

 

Any reputable woodfuel seller has probably bought timber in, seasoned it, processed it and delivered it so it aint going to be free or cheap.

Rather than join in with the sarcastic, I am sure many many forum members would be genuinely interested in why you believe that firewood would be cheap or even free. Its an honest question. Is it something the stove salesman said?

david i most of the wood cut in uk is from timber harvesting and the land owner has to be payed for growing his crop just like a farmer has to be payed for growing the food you eat and growing food, and timber both cost money
