Regardless of warranty it is not something that should happen so call Mac at G.M tomorrow and get it resolved.

so roughly what gap did you end up with?

what get's me is the massive difference between the 2 blades.... will take blades of tomorrow and check the sizes and post pics.

the closest of my blades seem to be about 1mm but it still scuffs a little on cassette.

 

 

i did it by eye, chipping nice and even as i would expect.

 

if its scuffing on the cassette it would seem it explains the scuffed blades as on the anvil there would be damage to that too.

 

if it were a bearing out i would expect a vibration especially at speed.

 

needs further investigation, seems like your onto it

It probally needs no further investigation.

It is a problem G.M acknowledged and is not something that can be repaired.

Be nice and you may be lucky and recieve a replacement cassette.

I am trying to save you going through all the stress I experienced when our went down. The crack was in a different place each time but very hard to see, in fact we never did see the first one!

well took apart the drum and here is the results, a big dirty nasty crack on the weld!

sent pics to mac @ greenmech and he will show the boss. i await a reply

That'll be why one blade is closer to the anvil than the other!

 

Exactly the same as mine. You can see that the weld hasn't penetrated the blade bed hence the failure.

 

Oh and don't drop that drum on your foot without toe-caps either

it's one heavy piece of kit isn't it!

You have the drum out so you've got the one bearing off already, just the four bolts to take it off the cassette housing.

Same process for the pulley end bearing.

 

The cassette is the whole shooting match isn't it (housing, drum, bearings etc.)?

 

If you've got a new cassette housing coming and are getting new bearings, why do you need to take the old bearing off the shaft if it's all scrap?

 

I got a new drum and bearings so just fitted them to the old cassette housing.

I'm suprised at the weld,not good.
