If you cut Wilow to an inch off the ground it will sprout !

 

In some willows you only need an inch of cambium to start a new tree. Damn utilities arbs chipping crack willow under overheads! 😡

I think you can make " rooting powder " from ground up willow .

you hardly touched it! I know the 'tip it out" merchants will cry heresy but it's not a beech, You've taken off about 6 months growth.

I suppose as long as the client was happy....... but it's less bother to give it a proper trim.
