Are we talking proper pollards or topping?

Properly maintained pollards look good to me although I dont see that many about.

Topping well IMO opinion not the best thing to do and I try to recommend other options and give advice on retopping on a 3-5 year basis but it pays the bills so I dont worry about it tbh.

So as we learn more and more about our trade what are the current (personal) views out there on pollards?????

My personal view on Pollards…..they’re fine, have no problem with them at all. If you carry out a pollard (in the true sense) your continuing a regime of good, sound arb practice that has been used for decades in order to keep trees in specific locations.
