Saw swallows & house martins over the River Kent in centre of Kendal on Thursday 18th. Had been to the same site exactly a week before and had seen nary a sign of either.

Amazing the difference in a week. Temp increase three fold; bare, cold & grey trees/shrubs burst into a green haze and the migratory birds return. Thank the gods that the interminable winter now finally seems to be over.
