15" sugihara bar on 346.

it was sold as correct bar, the stock husqy bar has holes for the chain tensioner that are smaller and dont overlap the oiler hole.

it does oil but there seems to be a lot of oil about under the side cover,

Would a chain with a few less links not remedie thiss problem . Thats what I would do any way if the tention adjuster will allow . They are tastie looking guide bars

 

thats a possible option although i dont have a chain splitter.

There is a bit of overlap and have looked at a standard Husqvarna bar and on a 357 it doesn't impact on the oiler hole and on an older 346XP, it only impacts on the hole if the bar is on it's most retracted position

 

Just checked my new edition 346XP - as yours is and the clutch cover blanks off the other side of the hole so at worst, it will fill up with oil and then push the oil in to the conventional channel - so, don't worry!

Is that hole not drilled at an angle? I may be wrong but seem to remember some thing like that!? I have a 13" inch one on my 346 so will have to check it out when I next take it of. Nice bar!

the oil hole on the bar is at an angle yes.

they certinly look nice, will see how it cuts today in yet more bloody rain!

Spud has it right - the plate on the clutch cover masks the hole off so only if this is not seated well will you get any oil leakage. I have one on my 346 and it works fine.

 

 

So why have the elongated holes in the first place?

 

Because the bar can then be fitted to Echo saws as well. Bear in mind that most carving bars have this arrangement where they can be fitted to a variety of smaller saws.

 

What about the Husky 550 and 560xp? - they don't have a clutch cover plate?

 

These saws are not made with a clutch plate and so you do get some oil leakage. So the current 13" and 15" sugi bars will not work as well with these saws. If you have one and want to return it then feel free to PM me and we'll sort something out. I have tried to contact most people who may have bought one for a 550 and 560.... the next batch will just have the straight Husky mount.

What about the 18" bars? - same issue?

 

Now these bars are a straight Husky mount - so they will fit and work fine on all mid Husky saws including the 550 and 560.

Shame hope you get it sorted can always buy a new chain for your fresh bar can only be a good thing or butter up you local dealer and ask if they can break and rivet it for you
