how many arguments!

I think you guys have got the wrong end of the stick here.

Simon is a balls out kind of guy who isn't afraid of hard work. He is building a tidy little tree outfit and he is doing it with whatever time he has left over from a full time job.

Sometimes it gets on top of you and it can wear on the family time but it will get better, give a little family time now and again to keep things on an even keel.

This is the crucial point, if you're working balls out with a clear objective in mind then it's totally understandable. I'm sure most peeps on here have done similar when starting out - I know me and the missus went through a tough time when our kids were young and I was working 6 days a week - as long as it doesn't become the norm. Otherwise, as people have already stated, you're merely living to work and that's not a healthy place to be long term.

Well I live to work, because I love my work. I'd rather be in the yard than at home with the woman any day. If I ever start to feel differently, I'll change how much I work. Until then... *Disclaimer* This only works with certain women. I seems to have been lucky so far!

A couple of years ago, I was starting at 5AM doing a paper round, then working till ten at night in the summer. Without doing this, I would not have the business I have now at 24.

However, with hindsight, two things:

1. Work smarter, not harder. How you achieve this is up to you. If I'd filled those hours spend working for £10 an hour with time spend planning, advertising etc rather than nose to the grindstone, I would be a lot further ahead.

2. Unless she's REALLY the one, and you place her above all else, then don't let her get to you. Some people are born with a 9-5 wage slave mentality. Those people make the rest of us money, by working for us and being too apathetic to compete.

God bless you Maggie :thumbup1:
