Legality aside, I wouldn't have thought the cost saving was worth the paperwork. White diesel isn't really £1.40/l if your VAT registered. (Of course it depends on how many litres you intend to use)

I'd speak to HMRC and VOSA to get clarity and then make a decision.

HI PAUL there is that mate but theres farmers around run old 4x4 on it as it free road tax and im told you do not need mot to but i do not think thats good owell thanks jon :thumbup:

I believe the brother mentioned recently that a no of farmers have started using this provision, to run older non MOT'able Toyotas (especially)

On red, no MOT, no expensive RFL either I presume?

But strictly limited miles per annum? / miles per journey? (possibly as little as 6?) or miles distance from base.

So the paperwork canny be that bad.

Lots of farmers do it. Register as agricultural vehicle (free tax) no MOT, do need insurance and limited to 1.5km on road only from base AFAIK.

you could either register it agri or limited use, but as has been said limited use really is limited, 1 km per day between land you own,not worth the bother imo

From memory you have to change it to agricultural machine on the taxation class, which I think to do you have to prove to vosa that it has been modified to use it for agriculture, but don't quote me on that :001_cool:
