Used to; still have some of the kit in the loft (did padi o/w in the 90's) and bsac after that. Got into spearfishing and the whole cressi thing after that and did the padi skin-diver which was a good laugh; could hold for 4 mins in bed; 2 under water. Used to snorkel with the seals in st ives bay. Free and single!!! Great times. Never forgotten a shallow drift dive I did in the Isles of Scilly - pure heaven!

Did the open water PADI in Port Douglas, Queensland and then spent a week out on the Rum Runner on the barrier reef. Try and do the PADI course as part of a holiday and somewhere warm. The Maldives are supposed to be one of the best places to dive.

Should also mention that if you can afford to go out on a proper Dive boat for a week or so some outfits will do the advanced diver course cheap as chips as part of the dive holiday.

Hi

i did a padi course but crossed over to bsac, padi costs more money and isnt as good , i think you are rushed though the training. Bsac course makes you a better safer diver and is ok to dive all round the world. You can train with a club ( cheap option but very slow) or train to be bsac ocean diver then sports diver with a dive center. One other difference padi dont do decomprestion diving so if you are diving a wreck at 30m you will only get about 5 min on wreck, with bsac spend as long as you want if you have the air . Also to wreck dive you need another padi qualification, bsac dont do wreck diver qual as you can just dive a wreck . PADI= Put Another Dollar In

Yes with bsac you will be able to dive to 30 m after you are qualified also you will get the rescue part as per the course it's not a seperet course you learn all you need to know in one course may take a wee bit longer but I believe safer and more info and traning sinks in

Hi there I am a keen diver been at it for nearly 10 years I mainly do fresh water and overhead diving caves / mines in the Uk

I would lv to dive abroad one day so that's a must do .i lv diving so much it's one of the best things I have ever done .

 

I would recommend a PADI course I started in a BSAC but very soon moved out as it just took so so long meaning u cannot dive anywhere else till its all signed off , i got really fed up , i paid again at another place to get it finished and signed off over 1 weekend . Then I was free to dive where and with who I wanted .

stoney cove do a good padi course and its not too far for you

I live about 1/2 mile away from there and my lad did the padi course there

Little Tree, you have to do the Great Barrier Reef. Fantastic diving if you go out on a boat for a week. The Red Sea is supposed to be good too. Hoping to do a Great White Shark Dive off California sometime.
