Talk about going around in circles on a topic, and getting nowhere. Some will be for, some will be against. What does it matter? A leader of this country has passed away, end of an era that stood out in history. Some will say for good reasons others will say for bad. I don't care either way, I think I did ok as one of that generation, but then I got my head down and worked, not whined about how unfair life is, others I know took the whiny route. They are the losers in life, and still are to this day.

when you talk of a small minority, why do you think there was literally thousands of police needed to try to control the striking miners, it was no small minority!

I was connected to a small mining community at the time by my eldest sister living with a miner and when I visited her I made quite a number of friends who were miners, so I feel that I can speak with a reasonable ammount of authority.

 

I could tell some stories (direct communication, not hearsay) that would be quite upsetting and are not for printing here.

 

I think you have defended your belief quite well, but unfortunately such strong convictions do obscure clarity and a willingness to look at things from a diferent perspective, trust me on that Sean, I have more issues than you could live with.

 

Yes, the miners did get treated appallingly, but a large amount of the maltreatment was unnecessarily brought on by the aggressive, violent stance of the barbaric NUM.

 

This thread is/was about Margret Thatcher, how she treated the miners has had a good crack at the forum space, would it be too much to ask if we could move on to another aspect of her Pemiership? Please?

 

Digressing slightly, if a similar thread were to emerge discussing Bliar, I would have to learn to upload photographs onto the forum, then I would spend a day out with my camera snapping Dog excrement.
