Great to hear about the snipe. The only ones I ever saw regularly were when I was a kid; there was a particular patch of tall grassy marsh they liked at Norman's Bay, Pevensey.

I had a tired woodcock in the garden in Caterham some years ago; does that count?!

Yea of course . I don't shoot much at all now but will not shoot any more woodcock ever . Kinda regret the few I have shot in the past . Fantastic bird .

But you could maintain your shooting skills on parrakeets!

Top be honest I'm all shot out now ! There used to be a time when I would get all hyped up watching flight lines of pigeon setting up hides lugging decoys and such like . Not interested in killing anything any more really . been there done that for 30 or 40 years .

I'm feeling the same but I do still work my spaniel. He flushed two 'cock and a pair of teal yesterday walking by the river. Not seen any ducklings yet. Must be early down south:001_smile: Still got some snow lying here.

Snows all gone here now . Hard frosts at night then watery sunshine through the day .

I said something very similar on a shooting forum recently. They thought I was mad!

I have never shot one myself.

Seen a few snipe over the last couple of weeks. Not as many woodcock this winter though.

Know what you mean about being shot out, when I was younger I'd always walk the dog round the fields with the shotgun in hand and go lamping maybe twice a week. Nowadays the sofa gets more attention than the guns !
