What tree would be best in a fight? :D

I mean, if they could fight, which species would be best and why?

I started off thinking Holm Oak (Q. ilex) because its big, heavy and vigourous. Calluses well and can take a beating.

But then I though about Crack Willow (S. fragilis); see the Holm oak would batter that to bits in a fight but then those bits would just root and grow into more willows...

Tough call, any other suggestions????

Trees would'nt fight. They sort things out democratically.

There is unrest in the forest,

There is trouble with the trees,

For the maples want more sunlight

And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,

(And they're quite convinced they're right)

They say the oaks are just too lofty

And they grab up all the light.

But the oaks can't help their feelings

If they like the way they're made.

And they wonder why the maples

Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the forest,

And the creatures all have fled,

As the maples scream "Oppression!"

And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union

And demanded equal rights.

"The oaks are just too greedy;

We will make them give us light."

Now there's no more oak oppression,

For they passed a noble law,

And the trees are all kept equal

By hatchet, axe, and saw.

Nice. Perhaps I'll have to force them to in Gladatorial combat...

Shrek - I think your spikey little hawthorn would get shaded out early in the second round!

what second round, your big willow would be digging out skelves for a week and have a histamine dose so bad it couldnt walk for a month:001_tongue:

the rhodies and laurel would sneak about in the shadows, biding their time and gathering in numbers.... until suddenly you'd realise they had allready assumed power and enslaved everyone

well i think there would be a stealth attack from the snake like ivy and slowly strangle all the mighty trees into fire wood in about 20 years!!!

it must be like falling into slow sand for the trees being strangled by ivy!
