Get the length's of main trunk as long as you can.

Turners won't always want just one ring of whorls for a piece. I've seen a stunning vase 24" tall incorporating two entire whorls.

Or try and contact some local turners.

They love it aparantly and some will pay for it.

For 12" MP there's no way they'd get their hands on it without paying for it here! 12" diameter is ideal. Any bigger and the lumps get too heavy for smaller (i.e. many hobbyists') lathes.

That's a rare lump, I would like to see that, the best one I have seen was turns thinly and had a lamp in it. Because of the grain direction the light came through the branch tissue but not the stem.

I have sold plenty of monkey in the past, most punters don't take more than one or two so you get a few punters per tree and no one has ever asked for more than one whorl, its heavy gear and most domestic lathes just cant handle a 2 foot long lump.

Complete agreement with that: I'll see if I can get a pic of the vase sent to me.
