Stihl MS390 or Husky 365 Special

Ok, so I am in need of a bigger ground saw, not only for doing some work but for ringing up bigger stuff for firewood at home.

 

I have the option to buy a Husky 365 Special (about 7 years old) or a Stihl MS390 (about 4 years old). Both around £300 and in very good nick...which is the better saw? I am just as interested in reliability as I am performance.

 

I have only experience of Husky 346xps and 365's as ground saws. Always quite liked the 365's...seemed to be hassle free.

 

Hopefully somebody with more experience using the various saws can help?

 

Have to make the right choice as can't afford not to so your advice is appreciated.

365 special . Has the bottom end of a 372 , slightly less high revving making it pretty much bomb proof sooo 365 every time .

HI TREE i pick up mates 390 the other day lots of weight to it to :thumbdown:jon

I have a ms390 which has served me well. Was like new from a dealer for £150. Does not always oil well and I think it is only a farm saw. After 4 years hard use probably needs a new spark plug I would imagine the husky is better but mine looks ok on the shelf in semi retirement.

Cheers guys...going to stick with the Husky then. They have never let me down anyway.

 

Tell me this though...the Husky is actually almost ten years old. Seems in great condition, but is £300 a bit steep for a ten year old saw????

If you are vat registered it makes a new one at jonses look like a bargain. People normally sell saws because they have had the best out of them.
