hi everyone, i'm thinking of buying a rayco rg13 ii stump grinder. i've seen them in use and am quite impressed but am wondering how long they last. i want something for the odd fell and grind, nothing bigger than 2ft diameter. any stumps bigger than that i tend to sub out.

Are one just blown up but it's 9 years old and it's been used and abused as any one got a Honda engine for one

If you get one without the oil sensor in it it works out a load cheaper:thumbup:

Try... Universal engines on 01371 875331. Just got to spend out on it I'm afraid. No point even trying to look for a cheap Chinese imitation, or to get it re built. Just change that oil every 6 months

Cracking little machine, best stump grinder I have ever had. I have a Multitip cutting wheel on mine and its very good, better than rayco super teeth. It cuts like a bigger machine.

Thinking along the same lines.

Gareth, do you transport it in the back of the truck, or could you? Ramps or 2-man lift?

It came along on a little single axle trailer. We do have ramps for the back of this truck which are around 10ft ali. Thinking of getting a little hand winch like the ones you see on boat trailers to pull it up for ease (lazyness)

We only ever offer to grind down between 150-200mm with this machine

I've had my RG13 since 2004 .

Its earned me a fortune in that time.

It needed the odd bit of welding but somehow it keeps on going.

I've done oaks, ash and beech over 3ft diameter (hard work but this was the only machine I could get in).

Go for it.

As for transport - I bought a wheelchair carrying peugeot van.

It comes with a built in ramp, an electric winch.

Thay aare far cheaper than the standard vans and a lot less abused.

Mine had under 25k miles, years MOT, 53 reg for a touch over £2,000.

Never had any problems - one man job to load/unload - looks professional too.
