Hi everyone i am looking to do the course in September at Merrist Wood and i am really after advise on positives and negatives on people who have done it and what they think of it and where it has got them to now. I am looking to hear from anyone who are in the same boat as well. i have done 18 years of tree surgery running my own business and want to add this to my cv. This is something i should of done a long time ago but never thought of doing it. I went to the open evening tonight just to get more info but it was so busy i could not get a look in. Thanks Richard . :confused1:

Yes Richard, like yourself I run my own business as well so will fit it in around that. I fitted a fulltime degree which was actually 2 long days a week around work so figured should be able to manage this, but have heard that the work load is pretty intense.

I've got hold of the reading list and course content so will try and do some groundwork beforehand. Where abouts in w sussex are you?

Ive had to put my application off til next year due to my missus doing a teacher training course, would be a bit too mental as we have 2 kids and evreyone i have spoke to says there is AT LEAST 10 hrs of homework per week! I sometimes struggled to do the 1-2 hrs for the L2!

Somewhere in the region of 65 assignments.

Some short, some fairly heafty.

Two things I found crucial.

Don't let resubmissions back up & try and get access to as many of the key books on the reading list as possible.

Good luck with it, I think with your experience you should enjoy the trip and feel that a lot of things connect and slide into place :thumbup1:

David, is any allowance made for people with dyslexia?

I've never insisted on extra time in any of the exams i've sat as I consider mine to be quite mild but i think that i may struggle with that amount of assignments.

The volume of assignments is proper fun but is a trade-off for relying on exams to go right on the day.

The coursework submission dates are guidelines. Stray from them and you can end up swamped.

The teachers are good. The library is good. They sometimes neglect to serve carrots in the eating place though which makes me sad.
