River Wear Tree Job ( plenty pictures hopefully )

Been lurking on arbtalk for a while now so thought I'd better try a picture thread.

We ( EA) had a job last week to help the council taking a couple of trees out of the river that they were going to drop in due to bad access.

The site had a good landslide recently knocking a big beech over and damaging an oak, also their was a decent size beech to come out aswell due to a hollow and rotten base and being close to busy footpaths and previous landslide.

The council lads felled the trees in and we pulled them out to the opposite bank with better access.

I had a quick dip to put the strop and winch rope on to pull it into shallower water whear I could touch the bottom and break it up a bit to winch it up the bank.

Just love that winch you lads have, I had a good look at it when it was parked up in the farm down the road to me a month or so ago, I would hate to have to pay for a replacement plasma line for it as must be well over £750 for that size.

Think you could at least double that £750 :blushing: it's a canny length tho, think its 60m

Was a nice spot to work silky fox, always like working at durham.

We were spoilt that day with the boat / platform, first time we've used it up in our area, normally the breast stroke accross lol.

Ahh just been looking for some to grace the 6ton winch on the front of my new truck but as not sure of its true pull aint ordered any yet and the prices can be shocking.

Bet the lad in the water was happy when all was finished and he got to get walmed up, was it a short straw day for him?

That was me in the water :001_rolleyes: , I enjoy it realy, plenty natural insulation to keep me warm  not to bad if you can keep busy when your in.

The plasma ropes are good, only down side is they fray easily on stones, need to use a plate or handy log when pulling over a hill crest. And the Cost !!!
