The train weight is what it is, it pertains to the vehicle and as such won't vary by driving licence. If the trailer mass is over 3500kg you will need to run on air brakes.

 

For a pre 97 licence holder on this vehicle you can go to 3250kg on over run brakes.

 

For a post 97 licence holder, go and get your category C

 

Or.........register it ag, plead ignorance with plod and throw yourself on the mercy of the courts:laugh1:

 

2750kg trailer for a pre 97 licence surely? (8250 kg minus 5500kg)

 

If you have full C1+E max train is 12 tonnes, but 9 tonnes train less 5.5 tonnes truck is only 3.5 tonnes anyway, so no need for air brakes.

I worked it out at 2750kg don't know how I came to type that, it was early morning where I am.
