ford ranger good,bad or ugly?

Nice pick up I add a 57plate but new clutch. And flywheel cost me £1150 not good only done 59.000 miles from new

04 plate and ive just got a new gear box gong in 130.000 miles and shes had a hard life, 60% of the time off road on sites.

I can only speak of the later model (57 plate), and it is a cracking truck. My only gripe is it is too high geared, and the clutch gets some stick with a load on when reversing, and I've had a new L200, and a new Hi-lux. I think that the ranger is the best of the lot for comfort, economy and as a work horse. Not too sure how the bodywork will fare - a couple of spots showing - but then Ford have never been generous with the paint on their commercials.

wouldn't be anywhere near the new ones anyway waaayyyy outa the price range im thinking of with that kinda money in my pocket id be running a green oval

the mk 2 is the best for towing. mk 3 was too highly geared for towing and there was a bit of a clutch issue that ford never really publicly acknowledged (allegedly). i think the mk 4 sorted that out.

What years did the mk 2 run for?

I've got a '05 B2500 and it's never missed a beat. OK off road with mud terrains but still gets stuck due to no diff lock or lsd. It would also really benefit from a 6th gear but as work truck it's never let me down. Just have a second vehicle about if you're going seriously off road!

I had a 2003 one. I was the second owner, was owned by aggregates company. Had 122,000 miles with fsh and did almost everything I asked of it. Wasn't good for towing, and mpg was around 25 so not great. I would recommend them. Just look for one that hasn't been abused its entire life and you should be alright.
