dont run a tight chain and just make sure you slacken the chain off at the end of the working day, do this and you will have no problems, its a great saw.

We have both the 261 and the 550, both have had problems, clutch bearing on the 261 and software on the 550. That aside I think the 550 is the better saw, on performance anyway.

Surely if the clutch bearing is an issue, you would keep an eye on it and replace regularly?Am i missing something?I dont have one, but i`ve used one and it seems a good saw.I do like to keep hold of older kit and run an 026, which has never missed a beat in several years.I do look after my stuff though.

the bearing is not a issue anymore, had my saw 5 months, worked it hard and so far and no problems. I spoke to stihl before I purchased the saw and they were so confident they gave me a 2 year warranty on the saw.

550xp is better.

 

I second that or the 560xp, been doing 30 inch pops with mine this week, loves it
