hi all

never attempted any hedge laying myself but been asked by a regular client about laying a very large old thorn hedge.

I myself have no experience in this so any advice is great

firstly what kind of price per metre do you put forward to client?

also is there anyone on here in the Cheshire area into laying that would come and price for me/ willing to do the work on a day rate basis?

If its too ,much mither, I will gladly pass anyones number to the client whos interested

Andi

how long is a piece of string. how long is hedge, how old is thorn. what diameter is stems. blackthorn loves to knarl itself round each other so needs cutting out to get each stem on its own. what style cheshire. depends what local cutters lay Midland, or welsh style. if midland and was a good hedge £5 per mtr to lay £2.50 per mtr for stakes and binders £1.50 for cutting out and clearing brash extra if to be carted away. two cutters members of NHLS. may be willing to allow you to help lay in return for the lead. good way to learn hedgelaying with a experienced cutter.

or if you can upload photo,s could well be willing to come up with a few of us and lay it. and can join in and learn to lay.

let us have some more details and there is a no on this site who will help out

how about it lads a weekend jolly in cheshire cutting with a few bears in the evening. im up for it
