Hi,

can anybody with some experiance suggest how long it can take for an application to be processed and made valid if i apply when i'm in new zealand.

Or

is it better to have a job offer and apply for a work visa befor i even have flights.

was hoping to come and have a look around and see what like rather than blindly setting something up.

any advice or pointers warmly recieved.

Will Morris did this and is there now, last time I saw him on here was in the tatoo junkies thread. PM him and see what he says. Might not be the way you want to do it though.

Just get a working hoilday visa bro, then you got lots of options and no ties to work with a certain person. i lived out there 3.5 yrs off and on. and love it, work is not the best but lifestlye is amazing. try keep away from bigger compaines massive turn overs and lots politics and people would shouldnt be in the position they are.

visa are easy, allow a 1month processing time. in uk they are crazy fast i sent my off both times and got it back in less than a week, both times they must processed it the same day. Best of luck, NZ is the bomb.

What MOG said. If you're not sure what you want to do and where, just get a work visa, come over and have a look and go from there. If you want to apply for longer than a year it will depend more on your qualifications and experience and who you work with as to how fast the visa is processed but arborists are still on the skills shortage list so it shouldn't take long. The benefit of working for the bigger outfits is that they have a shortcut through the immigration paperwork but again, as MOG says, you're just a number for the main part.

In my experience, having been lucky enough to to and fro all over NZ for 2.5 years,It was easy peasy to get a working holiday visa in this country.I got a two year one here in the uk,spent 18 months over there, came back for 6 months, and headed back over there.I got a 2 year extension on my working holiday visa whilst over there, and the process was a little more straightforward here.Under a month to start to finish.

Go over there, and check it out..You cannot fail to have a brilliant time,if you love the outdoors.I found work easily, and although not amazing standards,I worked with some very cool people in outstanding locations.

I sometimes wonder why I am backliving in the UK.

The money wasnt fantastic, but the lifestyle certainly was.Really hope this is of help.good luck.

As MOG said bro get working holiday while in UK means you wont have to get medical etc. Just need to either have a return ticket/ a ticket out the country (could just be to oz) so they know you leaving at some point. I been here 5 years now and have gone through the whole process from where you are to residence so if you want more info hit me up. We currently looking for experienced climbers and crew leaders. Will Pm you.
