I would suggest you drill both ends of the crack before welding it up.

 

Good tip. Adequate penetration in the root run is also essential. Preheat helps with difficult cracks. Expensive metals help in the process.:001_smile:

 

If it's old it may be cast, so stitching may be better.:blushing:

I think this is no joking matter in fact deeply upsetting.

 

some of us don't think this is the sort of thing to make jokes about. The trauma still sits with me and this sort of frivulous mocking nearly made me cry. I am thinking if reporting this to the moderator.
